Throwing a party, or even just having a cookout at your home can be a lot of fun, as well as a lot of work. You want to make sure that everyone who comes to the party has a good time and is comfortable, and sometimes you might worry that you are going to run out of space. Well, when you use the garage, you can add to the square footage you have available for the party.
When you hold a party in the garage, or at least part of the party, you can have some fun with the décor, and you can enjoy all that extra space that is available. This can be fantastic for those who want to have a place for people to retreat to if it is too hot outside or if it decides to rain. It can also make for a good overflow area when other parts of the party take place in other areas in and around your home.
If you are having a birthday party for kids, you know just how messy they can be. Having them in the garage, where it is less of a problem if they make a mess, tends to be a good idea. Let’s look at some of the things you can do to make the garage a more hospitable place.
Cleaning and Decorating
The first thing you need to do is make sure you clean the garage as much as possible. This includes getting out all the old and dirty items, as well as the large items, that you might be storing in the garage. Remove them if you can, or put them on one side of the garage and hide them with a curtain or other decorations.
You can use decorations to help make the garage seem as if it is a festive location, and you can use décor to help set the mood for the party. Think about the type of decorations you need for the type of party you are throwing. For example, if you are throwing a party for a child, you might want to decorate with his or her favorite superheroes as a theme. If you are decorating for a Mardi Gras party, you will want to decorate for that theme.
Places to Sit
Consider how many people will be at the party and how many will be in the garage. You want to have enough seating and table space for everyone to be comfortable. Folding tables and folding chairs can often be borrowed or rented if you do not have your own. Just make sure that you are not overcrowding the garage. Remember, people still need to be comfortable and able to move around.
Good Food and Drink
Naturally, you want to make sure that you have some great food and drink for the party, as well. Make sure you have items that everyone will enjoy whether it is simple fare, grilled food, or you are throwing a potluck. Have plenty of drinks on hand – alcoholic and nonalcoholic alike, depending on the party. You might also want to have a cooler in the garage to keep items cold and to make sure people have enough to drink.
